GRADING OF MARITIME TRAINING INSTITUTES
In keeping with its commitment to remain at the forefront of innovation, ICRA has ventured into the education sector, offering the service of Grading of Maritime Training Institutes (MTIs) in India. For this service, ICRA is empanelled with the Directorate General of Shipping (DGS), Government of India. The extension of service is aimed at promoting standardisation of infrastructure and practices within the maritime education industry and at addressing the perceived need among students, employers, the regulator and other stakeholders for an informed, reliable and independent opinion on the quality of education imparted by the various individual MTIs.
The ICRA Maritime Training Institutes Grading Scale is as follows:
ICRA GRADE 1 The institution has resources and processes consistent with those required for delivering the highest quality of maritime education and training.
ICRA GRADE 2 The institution has resources and processes consistent with those required for delivering quality of maritime education & training that is high but not as high as ICRA Grade 1
ICRA GRADE 3 The institution has resources and processes that can deliver good quality of maritime education and training.
ICRA GRADE 4 The institution has resources and processes delivering moderate quality of maritime education and training.
ICRA GRADE 5 The institution has resources and processes delivering low quality of maritime education and training.
Note: The suffix of "+" or "-" may be used with the Grading to indicate the comparative position within the group covered by the symbol.
