RDSS-driven smart meter rollout offers a significant growth opportunity for AMISPs; however, execution remains a key monitorable, given the on-ground implementation challenges. While the DDF mechanism was intended to strengthen payment security, its effectiveness has been constrained by delays in discom approvals, resulting in extended receivable cycles and moderation in project IRRs.

• The Government of India (GoI) launched the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) in 2021 to improve electricity distribution companies (discoms) efficiency by reducing Aggregate Technical and Commercial (AT&C) losses and strengthening billing and collection efficiency.
